Frequently asked questions

Do I need an internet connection?

No. SayHow works fully offline — all AI grading happens on your device. The one exception is outside the app: the first time you enable Apple Intelligence, iOS itself downloads the system models. That's iOS, not SayHow.

Why does it need Apple Intelligence, and which devices have it?

The AI grammar and pronunciation grading uses Apple's on-device models. Supported devices are iPhone 15 Pro and newer, and iPads and Macs with an M-series chip, with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings. On other devices SayHow falls back to simpler text matching and the rest of the app is unaffected.

What are the limits on the free plan?

Everything is free for the first 7 days. After that the free plan gives you 5 captured sentences, 5 AI corrections, 5 correction quizzes and 1 AI conversation per day, plus 2 topic packs. Spaced-repetition review, listen-only mode and the widget stay unlimited.

Is there anything to download on first launch?

Nothing from us. If you haven't enabled Apple Intelligence yet, iOS downloads its own on-device models in the background. Once that's done, SayHow grades entirely offline.

Where is my data stored?

On your device, and nowhere else. SayHow has no accounts and no servers — your sentences, review history and correction notes never leave the device.

Is it backed up or synced across devices?

Your learning data lives locally on the device. If you have iCloud device backup switched on, Apple backs it up under its own privacy policy. We never see the contents.

Can I change languages later?

Yes. Both your native language and the language you're learning can be changed in Settings at any time — all 13 languages pair with each other, and the sentences you've already learned are kept.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select SayHow and cancel.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled entirely by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account to request one.

How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?

Open Settings inside SayHow and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
