SayHow does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDK, and no server. Everything happens on your device.
Data we collect
None. SayHow has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no servers of our own. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information, usage data, or any identifiers.
On-device processing
Speech recognition, translation, and grammar and pronunciation grading all run on your device using Apple's on-device technologies (Apple Intelligence, the Speech framework, and the Translation framework). None of it is sent to us, and SayHow does not send it to any third party.
Microphone
SayHow needs the microphone to hear you speak your native language and record your spoken answers in the language you're learning. That is the purpose stated in the app, and you can revoke the permission in system settings at any time.
Speech recognition
SayHow uses on-device speech recognition to turn your speech into text and check your pronunciation and grammar. The recognition happens on the device.
Audio recordings
So you can play back what you just said, SayHow writes your most recent answer to a temporary file on your device. The next recording overwrites it. Recordings are never stored in the database, never kept long-term, and never leave your device.
Your learning data
Your sentences, review schedule, correction notes, and statistics are stored in a local database on your device. If you have iCloud device backup enabled, Apple may include that data in your backup under Apple's privacy policy — it still never passes through us.
Deleting your data
Delete SayHow and all of your learning data goes with it. Since we never hold a copy of your data, there is nothing to request deletion of from us.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the one-time purchase are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. SayHow never sees your payment details. Apple provides us only anonymous, aggregated sales reports.
Children's privacy
SayHow is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, children included.
GDPR and CCPA
Because SayHow neither collects nor processes personal data, there is no data to access, correct, port, or erase, and no personal information to sell. If you have questions, please write to us anyway.
Third parties
SayHow contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks, and no analytics libraries.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
